For a long time
it was hard to find
a beast who could do it so good
He may have had a name
but everyone just called him the wolf
He travelled shore to shore
ten thousand nightly shows or maybe more
but that was years ago
the signs of aging start to show
nothing lasts forever
Who wants the last piece of hair
from the wolfman
He's had his time
now we're putting him to sleep
Don't feel too bad, he lived a happy life
Just ask his children, or any of his wives
His childhood wasn't easy
but childhoods always end
and at least in the circus
he had so many friends
maybe they loved him for what's underneath his hair
maybe if he had none then no one would care
but onwards and upwards to the top of bill
the wolfman in the spotlight until we've had our fill
Who wants the last piece of hair
from the wolfman
He's had his time
now we're putting him to sleep
I saw these guys in the Bullitt at Output in Belfast. Live, they cook up a strange brew of conflicting styles. I caught layers of jazz, roots and psychedelia all directed at creating a sense of unease. I'm looking forward to listening more. Ursula's Crow
